La tarde de este jueves se registró un hecho violento que enluta al gremio jurídico del país. El reconocido abogado penalista René Altamirano fue asesinado en un ataque armado ocurrido en el populoso barrio Medina, en la ciudad de San Pedro Sula.

De acuerdo con información preliminar, sujetos armados llegaron hasta una pulpería del sector donde se encontraba el profesional del derecho y, sin mediar palabra, le dispararon en repetidas ocasiones, dejándolo gravemente herido. Minutos después, una ambulancia se desplazó al lugar de los hechos; sin embargo, personal de emergencia únicamente pudo confirmar su fallecimiento.

Fuentes cercanas al caso indicaron que René Altamirano era abogado de profesión y, según versiones no oficiales, fungía como representante legal del actual regidor municipal Rodolfo Padilla Sunceri. Hasta el momento, las autoridades no han brindado mayores detalles sobre el móvil del crimen ni sobre los responsables del ataque.

Agentes policiales acordonaron la escena y dieron inicio a las investigaciones correspondientes, mientras equipos de la Dirección Policial de Investigaciones (DPI) recaban indicios para esclarecer este hecho que ha causado consternación en la zona norte del país.
